Zhejiang Songyang Industrial Park was selected into the cultivation list of "zero direct sewage discharge area" of provincial benchmark industrial parks in 2022. Lishui's ecological environment index has ranked first in the province for 18 consecutive years. In 2021, the urban air quality ranked 7th among 168 key cities in China, and the surface water environmental quality ranking jumped from 29th to 10th in China. Lishui became the only city in China with water and gas environmental quality ranking among the top ten in China, creating the best performance in history.

By purchasing 405 tons of certified carbon emission reductions from Dajun Township, Jingning County, the carbon neutrality of the large-scale activities of the "Wisdom in Lishui" talent science and technology week has been achieved. Lishui has become the first batch of basic pilot cities for greenhouse gas monitoring in China and the first batch of national climate investment and financing pilot cities in China and the province, explored the path of ecological environment and health management, actively integrated the concept of ensuring public health into ecological environment management, and tookk the lead in releasing the local standard of Ambient Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) in the country.

Over the years, Lishui has unswervingly practiced the concept of "Lucid water and lush mountains are priceless", and constantly deepened the demonstration of ecological civilization construction. In 2018, Lishui City was named by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as the practice and innovation base of "Lucid water and lush mountains are priceless", and it also became a provincial demonstration city for ecological civilization construction. In 2022, Lishui won the title of National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone. Up to now, Lishui City, Suichang County and Jinyun County under its jurisdiction have created a national demonstration area for ecological civilization construction; Lishui City and Qingyuan County under its jurisdiction have created a practice and innovation base of "lucid water and lush mountains are priceless", and Lishui City and its eight counties (cities) have created a provincial demonstration area for ecological civilization construction. Songyang County was selected as the fourth batch of clean air demonstration areas in Zhejiang Province.
